On Trust for Ubiquitous Computing

چکیده
As we move into a world of ubiquitous and pervasive computing, there is an increased interaction between people and smart devices, which have computing power. In such a world, computing power is moving from big desktops to very small and miniature devices and there is a seamless integration of computing power and day-to-day life. For such a world of computing, we believe that there is a need for a continuum of trust, which models the real world, as closely as possible. In other words, we need to capture the real world model of trust where entities (people and devices) trust each other to varying degrees and extents. Moreover, we believe that in the world of pervasive computing, an entity's physical context (which could be the location of the entity, or even a property like time) is an important factor in modeling trust (because of ad-hoc interactions). In other words, we need a unified model of trust relationship between entities, which captures both the needs of the traditional world of computing (where the continuum of trust is based on identity) and of the world of ubiquitous and pervasive computing (where the continuum of trust is based on identity, physical context or a combination of both). In this paper, we present a novel attribute vector calculus based approach for modeling the continuum of trust.

GTrust: a group based trust model
Nowadays, the growth of virtual environments such as virtual organizations, social networks, and ubiquitous computing, has led to the adoption of trust concept. One of the methods of making trust in such environments is to use a long-term relationship with a trusted partner. The main problem of this kind of trust, which is based on personal experiences, is its limited domain. Moreover, both par...
متن کاملA Novel Trust Computation Method Based on User Ratings to Improve the Recommendation
Today, the trust has turned into one of the most beneficial solutions to improve recommender systems, especially in the collaborative filtering method. However, trust statements suffer from a number of shortcomings, including the trust statements sparsity, users' inability to express explicit trust for other users in most of the existing applications, etc. Thus to overcome these problems, this ...
متن کاملTrust and Accountability
Ubiquitous computing implies that literally any activity in everyday life can be assisted or accompanied by networked computers. Therefore, the concepts of everyday social life must be carefully reflected on when developing applications for ubiquitous computing. The present chapter focuses on the concepts of trust and accountability. First, both concepts are introduced with their everyday seman...
متن کاملDisTriB: Distributed Trust Management Model Based on Gossip Learning and Bayesian Networks in Collaborative Computing Systems
The interactions among peers in Peer-to-Peer systems as a distributed collaborative system are based on asynchronous and unreliable communications. Trust is an essential and facilitating component in these interactions specially in such uncertain environments. Various attacks are possible due to large-scale nature and openness of these systems that affects the trust. Peers has not enough inform...

Ubiquitous computing has been studied extensively as a post desktop model. Secure communication among various heterogeneous networks is been a challenge in service environment with location dynamism of the nodes. In this paper the authors proposed model for trust worthy communications among devices of various networks in a ubiquitous environment with varied service needs, security needs and com...
